Job Summary

The Youth Programs Instructor Supervisor is responsible for the instructor staff including scheduling, lesson assignments, training, and the well being of students while in a lesson.  This person must coordinate with the facility supervisor and the instructor staff to know the location of each child throughout the day.  The scope will include hiring, training, scheduling, creating a quality guest experience, and monitoring and coaching staff performance.

 

Responsibilities

Staffing

  • Hire a team of instructional staff for youth programs.
  • Train staff to work with all of our customers-children, parents, and instructors.
  • Train staff in the many aspects of teaching children.
  • Supervise instructors and the care of children in the youth lessons.
  • Provide continued mentoring and coaching for staff.
  • Monitor and document staff performance including staff reviews.
  • Ensure a positive, respectful and professional image to our guest and other employees.
  • Schedule instructors to fit business levels and budgetary guidelines.
  • Work to maintain high morale among staff, the fellow supervisors, and interdepartmentally.
  • Be an active and productive member of the Ski and Snowboard School management team and the team of supervisors across the resort.

Administrative

  • Model a picture of success for a superb customer experience for both children and parents.

·        Create administrative guidelines for operational procedures and processes.

·        Develop and supervise procedures for safe return of children to parents at the end of each lesson session.

  • Coordinate with the Youth Programs Facility Supervisor to ensure a smooth transition from student check-in to on snow instruction.

·        Ensure that guest concerns and comments are handled in a professional manner and that appropriate follow-up and documentation is completed.

  • Support manager in timely completion of departmental paperwork
  • Ensure that phone and e-mail inquiries are answered promptly.

Other:

  • Perform additional tasks as requested by Management Staff, Division Director, or General Manager.

 

Qualifications and Experience

·        Proven leadership skills and planning ability

·        Possess intimate knowledge of all Youth and Adult Ski and Snowboard School programs, lessons, promotions, policies and procedures.

·        Experience working with children of all ages

·        Proven ability to teach skiing/snowboarding. PSIA/AASI Certification a plus.

·        One who is a self-starter, a problem solver, can multi-task, and work under pressure

·        Proven customer service abilities

·        Effective communication skills

·        Demonstrated ability to be a contributing team player

·        Highly organized

·        Demonstrated computer skills with strong experience in Windows, Word, Access and Excel

·        Effective instructor training skills.
