Job Summary: Responsible for training and inspiring instructors to welcomes guests to our mountain and to create experiences that bring those guests back to ski and snowboard with us time and time again.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

1. Consistent behavior on the snow, in the locker room, around the mountain, and during lessons and clinics that models who we want our instructors to be.

 

Guidelines include:

  • Fun, Learning and Results, with Respect
  • Both the letter and the intent of all written policies and procedures of the school and the resort.

 

2. Conduct all trainings and clinics as you would a lesson – in other words, treat the staff with the same respect you give your students.

 

3. Model great teaching in your lessons and your clinics.

 

Guidelines include:

  • Being a great learner
  • The ability and desire to ask for and give effective feedback
  • Following an effective thought process in pursuit of meaningful goals, and guiding instructors to do the same in their own lessons.
  • Keep verbal and analytical learning inside, then follow up with active learning outside to experience and illustrate, and visa versa.

3. A common language and understanding of how skis and boards go right, left, up, down, accelerate, and decelerate, and the willingness and ability to base lesson and clinic plans, as well as movement analysis and feedback, on that understanding.

  • The Professional Skier (selected articles)
  • The Pro Rider (selected articles)

 

4. Keep Your Agreements—be responsible for staying current with communication and tasks as part of the training staff. This includes taking responsibility for knowing when the next training meetings are, knowing and understanding what happened at the last one without waiting for someone else to contact you, accepting only those assignments that you can accomplish and then completing them on time, and asking for help when you need it.

 

5. Possess intimate knowledge of all Youth and Adult Ski and Snowboard School programs, lessons, promotions, policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

General: A trainer is closely in touch with the concerns and needs of our instructors. He/she has the ability to inspire, energize, and motivate the instructors and can use tact and diplomacy to negotiate and develop respect and confidence as a leader.  Key traits and functions in this area include:

  • Assesses and determines the training needs and desires of the instructors.
  • Represents the training needs and desires of the instructors to the managers.
  • Listens to and understands the goals, objectives, and vision of the managers and works to accomplish those goals and implement that vision.
  • Trains instructors to perform under adverse conditions.
  • Works to maintain high staff morale among instructors, fellow trainers, sales and support staff, the supervisory team, and between departments.
  • Conducts constructive and informative conversations with instructors about how they may improve their performance.
  • Contributes to on going assessments of the training program with instructors, trainers, mangers, and other staff

Other: Perform additional tasks as requested by the adult and youth program managers.
